Time well Spent

Here is an awesome and awful truth: Time equals influence which causes change.  It is awful because we can become convinced that something wrong is right (or vise-versa) when enough time is spent with the idea (even the most outrageous ideas).  But it is awesome because we can overcome false and negative narratives by spending time with true and positive things!  My morning prayer and devotion time today was the awesome kind (it always is)!  In spite of a great Tuesday, I oozed out of bed feeling depressed and oppressed by the full fire-hose blast of options that this day and season offers.  With my first cup of coffee and cry for help, I just couldn’t imagine anything other than crawling back to bed and pulling the covers over my head for the day.  But, sure enough, after giving time to God, I got up with a surprising sense of excitement about what the day might hold!  But it took time…over an hour of time.  So, where are you spending time?  If you’re young enough, you may be spending time listening to the voices of comparison (do this: _________ to be valued) and constantly changing who you are.  If you’re old enough, you may be spending time listening to the voices of chronic pain and failing physicality and becoming fearful and joyless.  We are all giving time to something, and that changes us.  How about choosing where you spend life-changing time?  Here’s a verse that might help, “But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31.  How can you begin spending more time with God today?
